5/28/2023 0 Comments La memoria![]() The design criteria for this project responds to the need to restore a historical and natural element such as the Santa Elena Stream, an important water source for the collective memory of the inhabitants of the city.Īlong this stream the first settlements where originated, which later led to the development of the city as known today. The project makes part of a master plan called Central-PUI, and it is located in Boston’s neighbourhood, in the 10th district of Medellín, Colombia between the 39th and 36th Carrera, and the 54th and 51st street. In commemoration of Colombia’s 200 years of independence, rises a proposal to develop an urban project with aims to generate a social and environmental impact in a city’s sector which through the years has been deteriorating by housing invasion and the constant misuse of natural resources. The scheme has been commissioned by EDU, the Urban Development Corporation of Medellin.Ĭonstruction of the museum is due to start next year. In the nearby town of Scicli, declared UNESCO world heritage site, you can visit the rich artistic-cultural heritage of the baroque architecture and walk along its enchanting narrow streets teeming with restaurants serving local food, old taverns and small shops, enveloped by a magical atmosphere.The museum will form part of a larger park commissioned to commemorate the country's 200th year of independence.Ĭentred on the Santa Elena Stream around which the city developed, new leisure facilities will include an open theatre and an interactive cascade of water. The town of Modica, another baroque masterpiece, famous for its chocolate and much more, is also nearby. ![]() The area is characterised by long beaches and a crystal clear sea. Between the baroque town of Noto and the fishing village of Marzamemi, lies the famous Vendicari Nature Reserve, important for the presence of marshes which are a stop-off point for the migration of birds such as flamingos, herons and storks, which can be seen from the dedicated birdwatching huts. A few minutes from the villa is the protected nature reserve of the River Irminio, ideal for a beautiful walk, to sunbathe on the wild beach of golden sand or to swim in its crystal clear sea. The beach can be reached using a path inside the garden. The house stands just a few metres away from the secluded fine sandy beach of Arizza, which is 8 km long, and a short distance from the baroque town of Scicli. The second annex has 2 large triple bedrooms, with separate entrance, each containing one double bed, one single bed, desk and en-suite bathroom. In the adjacent annex is a large kitchen with indoor dining table which sits 12 people and outdoor dining table to sit 8 people (to which another table for 4 can be added) and a large barbecue for delicious grills of local fresh fish. The double bedroom is connected to the twin bedroom, but both also have an entrance from the garden. Indoor, the house is divided into three units: the large house has a fully-equipped kitchen with a breakfast table, a large sitting room with large windows, facing onto the swimming pool and with a dining corner and bright space for relaxation, one double bedroom with en-suite bathroom and two bedrooms, one twin and one double which share a bathroom. The house is surrounded by a large outdoor space (6500m2) with covered patio furnished with wicker sofas and armchairs, 1.6 m deep swimming pool, sundeck with sunbeds, children's playground, water fountain, annex with large kitchen and outdoor dining table, barbecue, car parking and path which leads to the magnificent fine golden sandy beach where children can play undisturbed. The Villa Memoria dell'Acqua, has been recently renovated to comfortably accommodate families and groups of up to 12 people, also with young children.
